About Tech From Here: Hawaiʻi

Who made it
RN Collins is a storytelling strategist, content and experiential producer, resident neuroscientist and design technologist. She is also an anatomist and medical educator. Degree: M.S. Anatomy & Neurobiology, Boston University.
What this is
Tech From Here looks at the technology underneath places and events, and who built it. Tech From Here: Hawaiʻi is a record of 14 sourced stories about technology Hawaiʻi gave the world. Each story has a photo carousel, the photographs and documents it rests on, and a list of the sources behind its claims.
How it was made
Every claim in a story points to sources listed on the same page and on the Sources page. The photographs and documents come from Wikimedia Commons and public archives, and each one is shown with its credit and its license. The carousel frames are built on real photographs, with the credit printed on the frame. No picture on this site is AI-generated.
Use and credit
You can link to and share any story. To reuse a photograph or a document, check the credit and license shown with it. Each one keeps its own terms, and some are credited without an open license, so ask the rights holder first.
